Those on board included IAS President Joep Lange and IAS Members Jacqueline van Tongeren, Pim de Kuijer, Martine de Schutter, Lucie van Mens and Glenn Thomas. They were travelling to AIDS 2014 in Melbourne, Australia.
Their contributions to the HIV response were significant and their potential futures immense. While their absence will always be deeply felt, their legacy lives on in the work we do every day. As the Local Co-Chair of AIDS 2014 and a Melburnian, I still feel the tragedy of MH17 deeply to this day.
